The true worth of an idea is conquered only once it sees the light of day. At Pearl Academy of Fashion, we don't just help our students master their skills, we also introduce them to a global platform. After all, there are, today, a host of national and international firms that have witnessed their mastery over their crafts.
The Academy encourages a global/pan-Indian exposure for its students through exchange programmes with leading institutions in UK, The Netherlands, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, and Germany, as well as other reputed institutions in India for a semester study. Students undergo study of a number of international languages and they can opt for any one foreign language out of French, German, Spanish and Chinese. Students graduating from the Academy can opt for higher education abroad for which counselling and facilitation are provided.
With a view to encourage cross-cultural exchange and foster a strong global understanding of creativity and businesses, PAF lays great emphasis on student exchange programs with reputed universities and institutions from across the globe. The flexible pathway of the new B.A. (Hons) curriculum allows students to earn credits on successful completion of full semester study undertaken either overseas or locally with reputed international / national institutes under the credit transfer policy. Student exchange programmes help in empowering the minds of both, students and the faculty, through information sharing as well as participation in international projects and events.
A few prominent international institutes among them are:
NHL University, The Netherlands
AMFI, The Netherlands
LDT - Nagold, Germany
Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), Hong Kong
University West O England (UWE), UK
Tie - Up with LDT, Nagold, Germany
Pearl Academy of Fashion invites retail management students from LDT Nagold, Germany every year, for six-week training in India. Each year two batches of approximately 20-25 students from LDT, Germany undergo training under the reciprocal student exchange programme at Pearl Academy of Fashion in India.
Similarly, Pearl students from Retail, Merchandising, and Production & Marketing streams visit LDT-Nagold, Germany each year to gain insight of working of iconic international brands through mall visits, factory visits, exposure to art & culture and classroom training sessions.
During the six-week training at PAF, the German students are oriented to the Indian textile and apparel industry. They undertake several sessions on the Indian retail scenario, merchandising, production management, fashion trends and textile technology.
Through the Eyes of the Exchange Students
"The most important part of the training at PearlAcademy was the knowledge on dealing with Indian textile and retail industry. We undertook a three-week joint project with PAF students on Analyzing Indian Retail Malls vis-vis Germany with respect to Visual Merchandising and Store Layout's . We found Indian people, teachers and students very warm and welcoming." - Joerg (a German Exchange student to PAF)
"The schooling in India is quite different from Germany, which includes teaching methodology, projects, learning outcomes, information technology, classroom furnishing etc. Another important difference in studies of both the countries could also be attributed to the difference in general nature of businesses of India (which is a manufacturing-driven) and Germany (which is predominantly a buyer country). Our knowledge in Germany is limited to only buyer's or retailer's points of view. In India, we were exposed to the manufacturer's perspective." - Carolin Hell and Michael Lachner, students of LDT Nagold, Germany
"PAF's exchange programme with LDT (Fachakademie fur Textile & Schuhe ) Nagold, is a testimony to the high level of excellence and quality education in the area of fashion retailing the institute is committed towards. The exchange programme learning went beyond the classroom boundaries with an international perspective.
During the tightly scheduled period of six months exchange programme in Nagold, Germany, we had the privilege to meet industry stalwarts from companies like HUGO BOSS, TOMMY HILFIGER, PUMA, LTS. The list is endless and so was the learning. A highlight of the entire visit was the insight into the working of these international chains through factory visits and on-the-job training sessions. Every minute aspect of retailing was explained with greatest sincerity in a precise and focused manner." - Yashmita Marwah, Fashion Retail & Merchandising graduate, Pearl Academy of Fashion.
"First I would like to say that I had a great time at the Pearl Academy!
The teacher's were always very friendly and did absolutely everything to help you. They also did a lot to motivate me and stimulate my creativity which helped me to achieve the best possible result. A great example of that is when teachers gave us extra lessons in the weekend and therefore gave up their own free time. This would never happen in Holland.
I also liked the way things were taught to us (it was very practical and we learned to develop skills we can use in real life also).
I think there is something good about both ways (the Indian way and the Dutch way). In India I definitely learned to be more patient and I also learned that when things don't go as planned it is definitely not the end of the world because there is always a solution!
Overall I must say I've never learned so much in just half a year before. Not only I learned a lot about design but also about India and its culture. I would like to thank all the teachers for having so much patience with me and for stimulating my creativity and helping me achieve some very good results. I would also like to thank Mr. Nair for giving me this great opportunity to study at the Pearl Academy of Fashion. It has been a great experience that I will never forget!" - Lotte Dijkstra student of the Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden(NHL), Holland
